One ringy, dingy. Two ringy, dingy. Snort. Snort.
Your call is up.
The Federal Trade Commission has pulled the telephone cord and Internet plug on five companies based in Arizona and Florida alleged to be responsible for millions of illegal pre-recorded calls from ?Rachel? and others from ?Cardholders Services.?
The companies allegedly deceived consumers into paying hundreds or thousands of dollars by making phony claims they could reduce credit card interest rates in exchange for an upfront fee.
The FTC believes the companies do little, if anything to fulfill their promises after fees of a few hundred dollars to $3,000 are paid.
Many homeowners, who in the Inland area have been hard-pressed to pay the mortgage in tough economic times, have relied on credit to get through tough months, so the bait dangled by illegal operations to reduce interest to 6.9 percent or even zero percent, is sometimes easy to take.
The plug was pulled through complaints filed against: Treasure Your Success; Ambrosia Web Design, A+ Financial Center, The Green Savers and Key One Solutions.
